We’re proud to celebrate the completion of Wesley Apartments in Lynchburg, VA in December 2025. This significant renovation preserves and enhances a 150-unit affordable housing community, offering a mix of 36 studio, 78 one-bedroom, and 36 two-bedroom apartments. Fifteen apartments comply with Uniform Federal Accessibility Standards (UFAS), supporting accessibility and independence for residents with mobility needs.
Designed as a National Green Building Standard Silver-certified project, the rehabilitation focused on long-term sustainability, resident comfort, and modernized living spaces. Exterior upgrades included new fiber cement siding, windows, doors, roofing, site lighting, and landscaping. Inside, apartments were fully refreshed with new cabinetry, countertops, flooring, appliances, HVAC systems, energy-efficient LED lighting, and updated fixtures throughout.
Residents also benefit from new and improved shared amenities, including a renovated community building featuring a business center, fitness room, UFAS-accessible laundry facilities, video surveillance, and a new outdoor gazebo – spaces designed to support connection and wellbeing.
Today, Wesley Apartments is home to 127 residents and growing, 80% of whom are older adults aged 65 and older. Forty-three percent of residents identify as Black, Indigenous, or people of color (BIPOC). With an average annual income of $22,353 for a one-person household – about 35% of the Area Median Income (AMI) for the Lynchburg, VA MSA – the community provides the affordability and stability residents need to age in place with dignity.
