Wesley Housing’s Knightsbridge Apartments was approved for the Virginia Landmarks Register by the Virginia Board of Historic Resources. This designation recognizes the property in the Commonwealth’s official list of places of historic, architectural, archaeological, and/or cultural significance.
While designation on the list encourages, but does not require, preservation of the property, Knightsbridge Apartments is currently undergoing rehabilitation of its existing 37 units in order to modernize and improve the operational efficiencies for the next phase of useful life while preserving affordability.
Constructed in 1947 in the in the Ballston area of North Arlington, the community features beautiful, red-brick garden-style apartment units executed in a Colonial Revival style design. During this time, the community provided moderately priced housing for many federal workers and, following World War II, returning veterans and their families. Today, the community continues to provide affordable housing for low- to moderate-income working families and individuals.
