At Wesley Housing, our commitment to fostering vibrant, supportive communities goes beyond the boundaries of our properties. Many of our programs and staff extend services and support to individuals and families outside our immediate residential areas, helping our neighbors access the resources they need to thrive.
In 2023 alone, we had the privilege of serving 287 community members, 35 of whom were children and youth. These neighbors benefitted from our food pantries, community events, after-school programs, and more. Through a host of partnerships, Wesley Housing continues to extend its reach by hosting various programs within its Community Resource Centers (CRCs) and facilitating connections to essential resources through referrals made by our resident services coordinators and other safety-net providers. Each individual served represents a life positively impacted and a community strengthened.
Collaborations with various organizations open access to critical resources for our neighborhoods:
- Food Access: The Arlington Food Assistance Center (AFAC) enables on-site food pantry distributions, ensuring that individuals and families have access to nutritious meals.
- Youth out-of-school time programming: Activities like summer camp and Project Discovery, a program supporting teens pursuing post-secondary education, take place in Wesley CRCs and remove barriers to access for youth.
- Services for Persons with Disabilities: Our Stomping Ground, a local nonprofit that provides supportive services to residents with intellectual and developmental disabilities (ID/DD) and severe mental illness (SMI), hosts fun and engaging events at our CRCs, inclusive and open to all community members.
- Services for Persons with Chronic Illness: Wesley Housing’s involvement in the Housing Opportunities for Persons with AIDS (HOPWA) Program, supported by local community grants, underscores its dedication to addressing the specific housing and supportive services needs of those living with HIV/AIDS, aiming to improve their health by providing stable housing to the greater community.
- Services for Recent Immigrants: Partnerships with organizations like Just Neighbors, which provides immigration legal services, allows resident services coordinators to connect residents and neighbors with accessible information and support so immigrants and refugees can achieve their American dream.
Our team also leverages the resources and expertise of jurisdictional agencies where we operate to enhance community services. These are just a few of the partnerships and initiatives that reflect Wesley Housing’s commitment to addressing diverse community needs both within and beyond our properties.
