President/CEO
As President and CEO of Wesley Housing, McAfee provides strategic direction and general executive leadership to Wesley Housing.   Since assuming her role in 2023, McAfee has guided Wesley Housing through transformative milestones, including a merger with Virginia United Methodist Housing Development Corporation in 2025, adding nearly 800 units and expanding operations into southern and southwest Virginia. This marked Wesley Housing’s first major expansion beyond the Washington, DC metropolitan region in its 50-year history. That same year, she was recognized as a Washington Business Journal “Women Who Mean Business” honoree and was named “Game Changer” by the Virginia Housing Alliance.  McAfee has held progressive leadership roles for the award-winning organization since 2008. Most recently serving as Senior Vice President of Real Estate Development, she led Wesley’s real estate development team through an unprecedented five-year period of growth, initiated by the successful award of four competitive funding projects in 2018 and capped by the 2022 construction completion of seven communities (571 units), representing $231 million in total development costs.   These efforts led the organization to be named 2022 “Nonprofit Developer of the Year” by the Housing Association of Nonprofit Developers (now Housing&) for the third time (previously in 2017 and 2006). Further, Affordable Housing Finance named Wesley Housing in its “Top 50 Affordable Housing Developers of 2020” and was one of only nine nonprofits nationwide to make the list.   In addition to her 14 years of service at Wesley Housing, McAfee brings public sector and private sector experience, previously serving as Director of Public Finance for the DC Housing Finance Agency and a Development Associate for Forest City Washington. McAfee was a Fellow at the Center for Urban Redevelopment Excellence (CUREx) at the University of Pennsylvania. She holds a B.S. in finance and new and small business development from Georgetown University and a master’s in business administration from American University. McAfee was also a member of Leadership Greater Washington’s Class of 2025, where she joined regional change-makers from diverse social, cultural, and professional backgrounds to exchange trusted counsel and collaborate on shared challenges and opportunities across the region.

Michael Pruell

Chief Financial Officer

Michael Pruell brings nearly 20 years of experience in nonprofit finance, audit, tax, and advisory services to Wesley Housing. As Chief Financial Officer, he oversees all financial planning, implementation, and management, ensuring long-term financial health through the review and strengthening of business units to make the organization stronger. 

Before joining Wesley Housing, Michael spent nearly two decades at AAFCPAs, a leading accounting and consulting firm in New England, where he advanced from associate to partner. He specialized in serving community-focused organizations and advising on complex affordable housing financing tools, including HUD programs and federal and state tax credits.

Michael holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Assumption University and is a Certified Public Accountant in Massachusetts. He is active in several industry organizations including the American Institute of CPAs, the Massachusetts Society of CPAs, Strength Matters, and the Affordable Housing Tax Credit Coalition, and serves on the board of WAY (formerly InnerExplorer).

Kathy Mejasich

Chief Operating and External Relations Officer
Mejasich has overall responsibility for Wesley Housing’s operations; corporate, individual, and grant fundraising; and marketing, communications, and volunteer activities. Mejasich comes to Wesley with more than 20 years of nonprofit fundraising, marketing, and communications experience. Most recently, she served as Vice President of Strategy & Operations for the Sports & Fitness Industry Association (SFIA) in Silver Spring, Maryland.  Prior to her tenure with SFIA, she held management positions with the International Road Federation, the USO, and Special Olympics International. She commenced her professional career as an officer in the United States Air Force. Mejasich holds a B.A. in sociology/criminal justice from Bloomsburg University and a master’s degree in public administration from Troy State University.

Joining Wesley Housing in 2010, Ms. Davis brings 33 years in property management and a wealth of experience in affordable housing. Ms. Davis is responsible for all property site staff. With a background in HUD, LIHTC and market-rate conventional sites, she has skills in managing people, processes, and budgets and possesses thorough in-depth knowledge in government-assisted programs. She is tax credit certified through the National Association of Housing Management and the National Association of Home Builders, receiving the Specialist in Housing Credit Management and Housing Credit Certified Professional designations. She has also received her Certified Occupancy Specialist designation from the National Association of Housing Management.

As SVP, West-Spencer leads Wesley Housing’s real estate and asset management teams, overseeing all phases of the development lifecycle – from site acquisition to project stabilization and long-term portfolio sustainability. Her leadership directly supports the organization’s strategic plan goal to grow its affordable housing footprint across Virginia. West-Spencer is a nationally recognized leader with more than 25 years of experience in organizational development, real estate, community and business development, financial management, and strategic planning. She brings a proven track record of leading diverse teams and advancing equitable economic development through affordable, mixed-use housing. Most recently, she served as Executive Director of the Redevelopment Authority of Prince George’s County (RDA), where she led large-scale, mixed-use development projects totaling more than 2,900 residential units and 250,000 square feet of commercial space. Her past leadership roles at The Community Builders, NYC Department of Housing Preservation and Development, Fannie Mae, and Enterprise Community Partners reflect her deep expertise in housing finance, policy, and community development. West-Spencer holds an M.S. in urban policy analysis and management from Milano School of Management, Policy & Environment and a B.A. in political science and Africana studies from Binghamton University.

Judith Cabelli is a passionate leader committed to advancing housing affordability, social justice and racial equity. She is motivated by fairness and equity for all and the belief that access to food, housing and health care are human rights. She currently serves as the Vice President of Real Estate Development for Wesley Housing where she guides department operations and leads a team of people responsible for the identification and implementation of real estate development projects from initial conception through financing, construction, rent-up and stabilized occupancy. Prior to this position she served as the Director of the Affordable Housing Development Division of the Fairfax County Department of Housing and Community Development, where she worked to support the County’s goals to preserve, expand and facilitate affordable housing opportunities for two years. She was trained and served as an Equity Ambassador for the Department as part of the One Fairfax Racial and Social Equity policy and County initiative. Before her role with the County, she worked for Wesley Housing for ten years where her last position was Senior Real Estate Development Project Manager. Before joining the Wesley Housing team, Ms. Cabelli served as the Associate Development Project Manager/Relocation Specialist for The Community Builders in Washington, DC. Additionally, she served as a Capital City Fellow with the DC Department of Housing and Community Development. Ms. Cabelli earned the National Development Council’s Housing Development Finance Professional certification. Ms. Cabelli holds a Master of Public Administration with a Concentration in Nonprofit Management from George Mason University and a Bachelor of Arts in Criminology and Criminal Justice with a minor in Spanish from the University of Maryland.

Mati Jones is responsible for leading the people functions at Wesley Housing, including strategy, culture development, and talent acquisition. In her role, she manages internal systems, policies and processes that support employees while ensuring compliance with employment law and modeling sound practices around equity, inclusion and belonging - beginning at recruitment and hire and continuing through all stages of employment.

Jones joined Wesley with over 15 years of human resources (HR) experience and time spent in a range of sectors including telecommunications, financial services and non-profits. She has worked with large, integrated HR teams supporting thousands of employees and mom and pop businesses of less than 10 people. Wherever she is, she enjoys the challenge of working with people and helping them to connect their own values, skills and goals to the organization’s mission.

Past volunteer work has focused on developing others, especially children and women early in their career, through mentoring and tutoring programs such as Junior Achievement, NBMBAA’s Leaders of Tomorrow and WICT (Women In Cable Telecommunications).

Jones earned a Bachelor of Science from Florida A & M University and an MBA from Emory University. She holds the Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) certification and is a member of the Society for Human Resource Management.

Irrin Suvanasai, LCSW candidate, currently leads the planning and implementation of supportive services and youth, adult, and family programs for all residents of Wesley Housing’s communities. Irrin has been an invaluable member of our organization for more than 12 years. Most recently serving as Regional Community Services Manager, Suvanasai's career with Wesley Housing is underscored by her breadth and experience with both family and senior programming, track record of facilitating key partnerships and funding opportunities, and leadership of a dynamic service line that has endured through the most challenging of recent circumstances. She earned her bachelor’s degree in sociology from the University of Virginia (UVA) and has completed additional academic course work at UVA’s Curry School of Education. Prior to her work at Wesley Housing, Suvanasai worked with vulnerable populations throughout Northern Virginia area for over 15 years.

George is responsible for managing the real estate portfolio to maximize the value, performance, and sustainability of Wesley’s properties, ensure continued program compliance, and manage risk. She is a strategic real estate executive with almost 20 years of experience in portfolio management and performance oversight in affordable housing and institutional real estate. Her prior leadership positions include Director of Affordable Housing for United Planning Organization (UPO), a non-profit agency focused on alleviating poverty in Washington, DC; Portfolio Manager for the Alexandria Redevelopment & Housing Authority; and Assistant Vice President for NewTower Trust Company. She is committed to her passion of helping vulnerable populations find equitable access to affordable homes and educational opportunities. Previous volunteer experience includes serving on the Board of Directors for Achievement Preparatory Public Charter School and The Hope Foundation. George holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Siena College and a Master of Real Estate from Johns Hopkins University.
